Beyond the coverage map

The operation doesn't stop where the signal ends.

Tracking teams move beyond the reach of cellular networks. Field offices open where there is no reliable terrestrial connection. Voice coordination still matters in both.

Long-Haul is built for these conditions: Pushytap over satellite links, with a local relay between your field devices and the satellite connection.

Built around off-grid conditions

Team voice, even when broadband isn't an option.

What Long-Haul gives a team working past the coverage map.

Voice for thin links

Satellite-adapted voice that works on narrowband connections, instead of assuming a broadband network.

The site keeps talking

The relay holds local communications through satellite outages, with queued traffic labelled as delayed rather than lost.

Plan around a data budget

Daily team data budgets and visible usage, so satellite consumption is measured and managed, not guessed.

Handset to headquarters

Shared talkgroups, dispatch, recordings and audit trails across connected and local-only modes.

Accountable operator identity

Named operators, hardware-backed device credentials and remote revocation, so the right people are always on the net.

How the connection works

Local devices. One relay. A satellite link.

Keep the team connected locally. The relay carries communications beyond the site through a satellite data connection.

01

Your field devices

Pushytap apps and radios connect to the local relay over Wi-Fi, mesh or Bluetooth.

02

The local relay

A hardware device on site that adapts your team's communications for the satellite link.

03

Satellite connection

A satellite data terminal provides the off-grid connection beyond your local team.

Relay, devices and terminal are specified with your team before deployment.

Two deployment profiles

On the move. Or at your remote base.

Off-grid mobile teams

For tracking teams, remote patrols and field crews whose routes cross areas without cellular service. A mobile relay setup connects nearby Pushytap-enabled devices to the satellite link as the team moves.

Scoped on site: movement, power, terminal placement and changing link conditions.

Remote field offices

For temporary bases, project camps and stationary field offices. A site relay gives the team a local connection point with satellite data as the off-grid backhaul.

Scoped on site: local coverage, team size, power and the site's satellite connection.

A different approach to satellite PTT

Evaluating Iridium PTT or Inmarsat-based solutions?

If you're comparing satellite walkie-talkie and satellite push-to-talk options, Long-Haul is worth a conversation, especially when you want a local team of apps or radios to share one relay-based satellite connection.

Your satellite service, terminal and operating conditions shape the final design.

What we confirm before deployment

  • Voice performance over your actual satellite link
  • Data consumption against your satellite plan
  • Radio, app and terminal interoperability
  • Relay power requirements and local coverage

Every figure comes from your link, measured on site.

The hardware behind the relay

The Pushytap Field Node connects your whole crew through one satellite terminal and keeps local voice running when the sky is blocked.

Satellite PTT, answered.

What is satellite push-to-talk?

Satellite push-to-talk (satellite PTT) carries team voice over a satellite connection where there is no cellular coverage. Long-Haul adapts Pushytap to that link through a local relay, so your existing apps and radios keep the same push-to-talk behaviour in the field.

How does the local relay work?

The relay sits between your field devices and the satellite terminal. Handsets and radios join it locally over Wi-Fi, mesh or Bluetooth, and the relay carries traffic to and from the satellite link. The site talks as a team instead of every operator carrying a satellite handset.

Who is Long-Haul built for?

Off-grid mobile teams and remote bases: tracking and protection crews, park rangers and anti-poaching units, convoy and escort security, NGO field operations and government rapid-response teams. Anywhere the last tower is a long way away.

What about tree cover or a blocked satellite view?

A satellite terminal still needs a clear sky view. The relay lets operators work near a terminal positioned in a clearing, on a vehicle or at a field base, so the team keeps talking while one point holds the connection.

Do we have to replace our existing radios?

No. Long-Haul brings your existing handhelds into the same talkgroups alongside Pushytap-enabled devices through the site kit, so the fleet you already own stays in service.

How much satellite data does it use?

Voice comes first, so Long-Haul runs on daily team data budgets with usage you can see. Your satellite plan, terminal and team size set the number, and we scope it with you before deployment.

How does Long-Haul compare with Iridium PTT or Inmarsat solutions?

Both are proven satellite options. Long-Haul takes a different route: one local relay and satellite data connection shared across a whole team of apps and radios, rather than a proprietary transceiver per operator. Your satellite service, terminal and conditions determine the fit.

How do teams get started?

Tell us where your teams work, how they communicate today and which satellite connection you use. We'll map a deployment around your operation and confirm devices, terminal and coverage before anything goes on site.
